Antique Find

This little beauty was purchased by me a week ago today. We were on our way home from San Antonio and using the backroads to get home. We came to the small town of Poth, TX and I saw this antique store as we were driving through town. I asked my husband if we could stop just to look around. He turned around and we went in. I wasn't really looking for this in particular but I have been wanting to find a desk to use with school pictures. My husband walked into the back room of the store and then yelled to me to see what he found. There were two of these back there. This one was in better shape than the other. The price on the desks was $110 each! I knew there was no way I could afford to pay that much for it. My dear husband asked the girl running the store if she thought they would take $50. She said she would have to call the actual owner and find out. She called and the woman agreed to sell it to us for $50! We went on Thusday to pick it up.
I have washed it with Murphy's Wood Soap to clean it up but it really needs to be restored somehow. I am not sure how to do that or what I should use.
Hopefully I can find something online that will tell me what I should do and what I should use. I can't wait to get it looking good and using it in pictures. Stay tuned......

Chloe

This is Chloe. She is a new member to our family. We got her a little over a month ago after rescuing her from a local animal shelter. She was scheduled to be put down the next day. But we brought her home and she became a member of our family.
She is such a sweet dog. She loves to go for car rides and if she is outside when you get in your car to leave she will most likely jump in and look at you like, "OK. I'm ready! Let's go!"
She knows what the words "out" and "outside" mean. And if you ask her, "Do you need to go outside?", she jumps up and starts to run around in circles and bark.
She loves our chickens. Especially the baby ones. When we first brought her home she wanted to chase the chickens. But I scolded her and she hasn't chased them since. She walks up to them and you can tell she would love to take out after them but she holds herself back. The little ones she tries to herd together.
She broke her jaw at some point in her life and it healed crooked. It adds character to her face and actually looks like she's smiling.
She loves to be brushed. She doesn't mind getting a bath or being blow dried. She loves to sleep on our bed right in the middle.
She loves dog bones. And don't try to move it or take it away from her while she's chewing on it. She'll take you hand off.
She loves to go for walks.
She is just a sweet dog. And I am so glad we have her.
The vet couldn't tell us how old she is exactly but guesses she is between 6 and 8 years old. She has had a hard life up until now but is still sweet in spite of it.
I'm glad we adopted her.
She's pretty too!

I Love Purple!

Have I ever told you that I love purple?

Well, I do. Anything purple. Clothes, pens, papers, flowers, anything that is purple.

I especially love lilacs. We don't have lilacs down here in Texas. I miss their smell and their beauty. But we do have some beautiful purple flowers down here. This is one I found this morning when I went out to get some pictures of the cows. I'm not sure what plant it is from or what it will become after the bloom fades. But right now it's beautiful.

It amazes me that God provides us with this kind of beauty so that we can enjoy his creations and the nature around us. Take time today to look for the beauty around you.
